Home Decor Design and Styling Tips

I’m going to be sharing eight different home decor styling tips for a beautiful-looking home.

These are different tricks and hacks and rules that interior designers home decorators use for a perfect-looking room every single time.

Redecorating your home or need some help on how to get started, what to do, and how to do it right, I hope these helpful tips will help you.

How do pillows change your design style?

Pillows are the most accessible and most affordable way of really amping up the look of your space and making it look well-designed.

It’s affordable because you can buy plain inserts to go inside of pillow covers and continuously change them to match your décor.

Check with the season to match the new color palettes you’re bringing into; consider doing pillow inserts, and pillow covers instead of buying OLD NEW.

Remember to style them with the rule of three, but also at different sizes and textures.

Many of us have the standard 18 by 18 Square pillows across our couch, maybe across our bed, and it looks a little plain and flat and doesn’t look too. Wow.

If you want to get that wow factor layer in a large pillow behind it and lumbar pillow across, bring in those different shapes and sizes, and it will make it look a lot more dynamic,

when decorating with cushions, always think about mixing different textures in and color and pattern and getting a layered look so that every little piece stands in its separate way.

You get an overall beautiful-looking space; you can also use karate chop your pillow to make it look perfect.

That sounds weird, but almost every designer does it; I learned it when I was in a design internship.

Karate chops your pillow right down the middle, and you get this excellent pitch look in the middle.

It kind of looks plush, and then you pull the quarters tight so that they look tapered; that makes your pillow look like it’s professionally placed, and you can easily do that in your own home.

Style of Three: How are the rules of three for design and styling?

Styling in three groups always creates an excellent triangular diagonal hook because I use a small scale, a medium scale, and a large scale that gives this dynamic look when you bring together just two items.

Sometimes it just looks incomplete, so adding in a third element makes a drastic difference and makes the decorating looked like decorating instead of just clutter that might have just been left around.

You can implement this in pretty much every place around your home decorating in groups of three with your pillows.

Your coffee table decor, your mantel decor shelf decor, works everywhere, and it works every single time so use scale texture colors so that you’re not placing three of the same things together.

Repeat that all around your home, and you’ll get these beautiful elements that look intentional and well designed, an effortless way of implementing the rule of three but in different ways and still in the same area.

A rule of three, with the candles, the bars, and the mirror and a group of three, across the table, so you have two different elements of three.

And altogether, it looks so cohesive and well placed.

How do you beautify a wall?

Wall decor can be tricky; it can be done wrong or right, so an easy rule of thumb to follow is to hang your Waller at 57 inches.

That is known as the average human eye height, so when you’re scanning around the room, your artwork and wall are hung and an appropriate height that your eyes can see.

Sometimes when Waller is hung too high, it looks separated from your decor and your furniture, and it seems like it’s floating.

Follow that 57-inch height, and your space will drastically change.

Start at that midpoint of 57 inches, and you can build out from there to have a balanced look.

Don’t put your picture hanger or your nail at 57 inches, have to seven inches by the midpoint of your photos, so you’re going to have to hang your little wall a little higher than that.

Ensure that it ends upright; it is all about tricking your eyes all about what feels natural to look at.

Suppose you’re finding that something’s standing out. Maybe that’s just a little sign that it’s not working.

So bring everything down to eye level, make it look cohesive so that the whole space can come together.

How does Mixing Patterns can change your home design style?

Patterns that are kind of scary to work with; sometimes they’re pretty intimidating, they can look messy.

Rules of thumb that you should think about with styling with patterns are scale and pattern.

The scale is all about pulling in one large-scale pattern and bringing in two small-scale patterns so that you’re not doing three overwhelming sizes of patterns, and your eye doesn’t know where to look.

Focus on one pattern and highlight and mix in some smaller-scale patterns to balance out the textured look.

Easy to do when you have an extensive pattern rug or a large-scale wallpaper pattern when decorating in a room like that.

Ensure that your pillows or your little accent pieces have smaller scale patterns on them, and they will work for you.

When you mix in those different skill patterns, think about what kind of patterns they usually are.

It works well if you make a geometric pattern, so having all the other pattern pieces have their little moment is the way to go.

Remember to think about the size of your patterns and patterns, and you will be safe feeling to go deep and get outside right now and do something big.

This is something I always love to follow when I’m decorating the room.

How do balance and symmetrical used in designs?

Balance and symmetry bring in elements that allow your eyes to be calm and look at the area as a whole instead of being drawn in one direction or the other; it can be done in every order when you look around a room.

Balancing your sofa, artwork, lighting, and plants in your furniture placement.

All elements of the space have to have some balance to them when you see a room that’s not balanced.

And one side of speech maybe has all of the furniture on it, or it’s only decorated on one side, then it feels very unbalanced, and it doesn’t look right.

When you bring in some different elements that match each other on both sides of the space that is in the same, you get a nice balance.

Why is scale necessary in the design of a space?

Another thing to think about when styling a space is scale, and scale is pretty much just the size of something; again, you don’t notice scale until you see it, way off.

So if you have something that’s way too big for space or way too small for space, It looks off, and there’s just a better way of doing it.

It’s crucial to measure your length and pick items that are perfect for your ceiling height for the size of your room in comparison to your furniture.

A common thing that I see is our workspace it’s too tiny, things that look like they’re just floating they’re not anchoring anything.

when you correct that, and you do appropriately sized pieces for your spaces, you will see a huge difference, and your area will look well designed.

What is the importance of Colours in interior design?

Color can go both ways.

It can go good or bad, and it’s all about the little rules and little design tricks you should follow when using color.

You can use paint and do it in a very monochromatic way, so you’re using may be all blues and doing shades of blue, and they’re all similar but contrasting, and you get layers to the color, so that looks cool, really bold.

If you want to do many colors, or you can do pops of color, have a neutral palette, and bring in one pop of color.

Use different shades of that precise color to get a stunning layered look.

You can bring in multiple colors and work off of complementary colors.

You don’t have to think about the apparent bright kind of primary colors like red and green and blue in yellow.

Think about the shades that come along with those colors, so maybe it’s Navy and a neutral color that go well together.

If you’re working with color, it helps by balancing the colors around the space so that there’s not too much color on one end and not in others.

You can use color around a room and different elements like artwork, pillows, rugs, and furniture.

Making cohesive-looking home design

Bring A cohesive-looking home can be hard to choose sometimes because people put more in. One way that I found to even out color around your home.

Bedrooms can be an exception because sometimes you want to have a lot of fun with the design, so those rooms that you can close the door to can be different.

When you’re thinking about your floor plan, The dining room, The living room, the kitchen, the hallway, those things should flow together.

Having a cohesive home is all about consistency.

If you keep that consistent color consistent texture running throughout the house in different ways, you will end up with a cohesive-looking home.

So that’s it for my home decor styling tips that I think you should know.

Try them in your space if you’re redecorating or doing little makeup; you think about all these different formulas when it comes to interior design, but it’s also all about having fun and doing what you like.

If you don’t want to follow these, don’t do your own thing, but these are just little things that you should think about if you’re going to create.
